Background

The Faculty of Economics and Management Sciences was established in 2007 in Kosti where Prof. Haider Osman Issa was assigned to the deanship of the college under the former director Professor Abderrahim Osman. After then, subsequently, a number of deans were assighned to the deanship of the faculty at different periods;

Vision and Mission

Taking into account the recent development in the last three decades in Sudan, the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences seeks to meet the requirements of the third millennium. In addition to the boom in the economic and buiseness sectors that encourags the faculty to improve its outcomes. To meet the expectations of the icreasing demand for qualified cadres; professionals, researchers and scientists. To produce a graduate who is capable of practicing activities with high efficiency and quality.

 

Objectives:

1. Self-development of theories and their applications.
2. Employ modern technical software packages to serve scientific researches and their implementations.
3. Preparation of educational outputs capable of solving problems that may arise during applications and making an informed amendment to achieve the desired objectives.
4. Optimizing the use of modern methods of communicating with others and the ability to work in team spirit.
5. These objectives are achieved through the curriculum designed for this faculty in the fields of science and human knowledge, formulated and reformulated in accordance with the requirements of the scientific, institutional and national developmental stages.

 

Faculty Development

The first workshop entitled “Evaluation of the Academic Degrees Structure and the Curricula of Economics and Management Sciences College” was held during the period (Saturday 28/6/2008 – Sunday 29/6/2008). On the basis of the recommendations of the first workshop, the faculty has included the following majors to its program; Pure Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, Rural Development, Econometrics and Social Statistics. Students start their major study from the fifth semester (Level 3). The Faculty grants the General Bachelor degree in the mentioned majors in eight semesters (four levels). A fifth level of two semesters is taken by outstanding students to be granted the Bachelor degree of Honors. It also contains the following programs; affiliation, bridging and private admission based on the admission requirements of the higher education in Sudan.

 

Post Graduate Program

As part of the university's mission and objectives, the Faculty of Economics and Management Sciences has included the Postgraduate Program in the various majors. It includes doctoral, master and higher diploma programs designed specifically to fit the knowledge-based economy, individuals and organizations who are convinced that intellectual capital is the real basis for competition in today's world.

Program Objectives:

• Preparation of scientifically qualified cadres capable of research, teaching, training, leadership and planning of development.
• To provide students in all levels with the theoretical and professional bases that support scientific practices in the economic, social and management fields.
