1. To develop academic curriculums and programs in accordance with overall quality standards and academic excellence.
2. To conduct trainings of specialized human cadres capable of managing the knowledge and information of the society in a highly professional manner.

To prepare manpower to work in the professional and administrative functions of the public and private sectors of institutions and departments concerned with production, collection, storage, organization, retrieval and accessibility of information, using appropriate information and communication techniques.
4. To prepare distinguished graduates who can enroll in postgraduate programs to carry out research and teaching tasks in the field of information studies.
5. To raise the quantitative and qualitative level of research production and to make use of the infrastructure needed to ensure the quality of research and its relevance to reality.
6. To contribute to scientific research on information studies and to link them to the human and developmental needs of Sudan.
7. The development of knowledge and the preservation of intellectual production by encouraging researchers and faculty to create, innovate, add and contribute to the development and maintenance of specialized knowledge.
8. To provide excellence in advisory and research areas in the framework of known and approved global standards.
9. To provide advisory services to various information institutions in the community.
10. To provide a supportive academic environment for the development and improvement of performance in service programs and the modernization of documentation and SIP systems by technical and technological means.
11. To provide students with the information skills needed to enrich their intellectual, cultural and artistic outcomes.
12. To contribute to scientific research and link it to human and development needs in Sudan.
13. To offer a high level of quality study programs to provide the Community with experts and professionals who can manage information and knowledge in all its aspects.
14. To offer a variety of programs at the postgraduate level (Masters) and (PhD) in the fields of libraries, information and documentation, which qualify researchers for a high level of scientific, professional and ethical aspects.
15. To contribute to the preparation and training of information specialists through training programs to provide them with up-to-date information and recent trends in subjects of specialization.
