9. To provide advisory services to various information institutions in the community.
10. To provide a supportive academic environment for the development and improvement of performance in service programs and the modernization of documentation and SIP systems by technical and technological means.

14. To offer a variety of programs at the postgraduate level (Masters) and (PhD) in the fields of libraries, information and documentation, which qualify researchers for a high level of scientific, professional and ethical aspects.
15. To contribute to the preparation and training of information specialists through training programs to provide them with up-to-date information and recent trends in subjects of specialization.

The department grants a general bachelors degree in four years (8 semesters) and a bachelor degree with honors in five years (10semesters). It also grants a Higher Diploma, Master and PhD degree in the various courses of the department of Laibraries and Information.
