About Department
The Geography department was established in 2005. The first batch of students was graduated in 2009. This department grants a general degree of Bachelor in four-year period and grants a Bachelors degree with honors in five years. The Department grants the following higher grades; master's degree and PhD in the various courses of Geography. There are about 400 students enrolled in the Bachelors program.
The Department conducts two scientific trips each year for the second and fourth level students to some areas outside the White Nile State. The main focus of these trips is to apply theoretical studies as well as to identify natural geographic phenomena.
Department Objectives
- To provide students with full geographical concepts and theories and their relevance to science.
- To familiarize students with the relationship that is based on the interaction between man and his environment and to develop his inclinations towards the preservation of the environment.
- To develop the ability of students to conduct geographic researches from different sources of knowledge and to equip them with skills, particularly in geographic information, GIS.
- To create a good citizen who is aware of the promotion and development of his country's patriotism.
- To prepare and qualify researchers who hold scientific competence and capacity for innovation and creativity to proceed in the field of geo-scientific research.
- To qualify graduates who are able to compete in the labor market.
- To Participate in economic, social and environmental planning through literature, research and participation in public conferences, seminars and lectures.

Department of Geography grants a general bachelor degree in four years and a bachelor degree with honors in five years. It also grants the following degrees; Higher Diploma, Master and PhD.
