This study entitled “The Impact of Professional Ethics on Electronic Journalism,” a descriptive and analytical study For the period from (January 22 to March 22), by applying it to a number of newspapers and electronic news websites, it aimed to: work to confirm the value and importance of professional ethics at the level of electronic media consumption based on the mutual credibility between the media outlet and the public, and devote efforts to consolidating ethical principles in electronic journalistic circles. From the questions raised by the study: To what extent have journalistic codes of honor contributed to making professional ethics a tangible reality through practice on the Internet? What will be the situation of electronic newspapers if professional ethics are absent from electronic journalism? The study produced a number of results, the most important of which are: The absence of a law regulating and monitoring the work of electronic journalism resulted in a complete absence of ethical charters that support the practice of the profession, as the percentage of those who answered “strongly agree” reached 47.8%, followed by “agree” with a percentage of 34.8%. The study showed that the weakness of training and qualification of practitioners The profession of electronic journalism has led to a failure to adhere to the ethical codes of honor of the profession. The percentage of those who sided with the “Awfaq” option reached 56.5%, while it was followed by “Strongly Agree” at 30.4%.
Among what the study recommended: the need for the electronic press to resort to a law that regulates professional practice and establishes a mature and responsible press, in addition to the need to enable the electronic press to fulfill its mission by not missing or monopolizing information to ensure the unification of the sources of information that electronic newspapers need
