Abstract

This study aimed to identify the effectiveness of cognitive behavioral therapy in alleviating depression among patients with renal failure according to (gender & age )in Aljomaeh centre in Alobied Town . The sample consist of 100 patients (males and females) (55) of males and (45) of females. The study tools are The cognitive behavioral therapy program for depression alleviation prepared by the researchers and the Beck depression scale translated by Abd Alfettah Gareeb. The data were analyzed by using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) programme through Alpha Cronabach coefficient beside, Coefficient of Spearman and Brown, One way analysis (ANOVA), Arithmetic, Mean and Standard deviation. The study attained the following results: Existence of significant statistical differences in effectiveness of cognitive behavioral therapy in alleviating depression among patients with renal failure at the level (0.05) before and after the application of the cognitive behavioral porgramme in favour of the post application . Existence of significant statistical differences in effectiveness of cognitive behavioral therapy in alleviating depression among patients with renal failure at the level (0.05) between the average of males and average of females in favour of the males. Existence of significant statistical differences in effectiveness of cognitive behavioral therapy in alleviating depression among patients with renal failure at the level (0.05) according to age((15-25), (26-35) , (36-45), (46-59), (more than 59 years)) in favor of (46-59) . Therefore, the study recommended the use of cognitive behavioral therapy to alleviate depression in patients with renal failure.
