Abstract

This study aimed to highlight the role of transport in advancing economic development in Dongola, northern State, by analyzing the current state of road infrastructure and its impact on productive sectors. The research problem focused on the logistical challenges that hinder the optimal utilization of Dongolaʹs strategic location as a continental. The study adopted a descriptive-analytical approach and a case study methodology, using a questionnaire as the primary tool for data collection from a sample of traders, transporters, and officials. The findings revealed a strong positive correlation between road transport efficiency, the reduction of agricultural production costs, and the stimulation of cross-border trade with neighboring countries. The recommended the establishment of a free logistical zone in Dongola, the development of roads connecting production areas to national highways, and a review of tax policies imposed on the transport sector to enhance the city’s economic.
