The debate surrounding abrogation in the Holy Quran: between fundamental principles and interpretation. المستخلص

Abstract

This study dealt with a topic from the science of jurisprudence, which is the issue of abrogation in the Holy Qur’an, passing through the concept of abrogation in the Holy Qur’an, its legitimacy and its types. Examples of statements from early and later contemporary scholars who believe in abrogation and those who do not believe in it, and an analysis of their statements regarding the number of verses that were said to have been abrogated in the Holy Qur’an. There is much disagreement among them. Some said that the number of verses reached 293, and some said less and more, until it reached 5 verses. This confirms the idea of research on the controversy of abrogation in the Holy Qur’an and presents some examples of verses on prayer, fasting and inheritance at the end of the research. This research aims to: demonstrate the permissibility of discussing what the majority of jurists and fundamentalists have agreed upon with evidence and proof. Also, among the reasons for conducting the research is: to benefit from the issue in a scientific manner. The research problem is that the statement about abrogation in the Qur’an is agreed upon, but the problem lies in the disagreement over the number of abrogated verses in the Qur’an.
