It is a centre of studies and research, medical and reference training and pilot at the national and global level in the diagnosis and monitoring of endemic diseases.
University of El Imam El Mahdi is one of the first achievements of the higher education revolution in the states. It is also characterized by its presence in the White Nile State with its geographical location in the tropical region, as well as the presence of state health units and institutions. From a health standpoint, these factors represent success factors for health-enhancing projects and programs once these resources are used optimally.

On the other hand, the impact may be negative for health, leading to epidemics and endemic diseases such as the diseases of the Malaria, bilharzias and pulmonary tuberculosis and other diseases included in the list of endemic diseases in Sudan.

For the maximum benefit from the human and material resources of the university and health institutions of state, the idea to establish a centre for studies and research of endemic diseases at university of El Imam El Mahdi was implemented in order to promote health studies, medical and applied researches in high-quality for endemic diseases in Sudan and particularly in the White Nile State. To make preventive and curative plans for those diseases based on scientific field work.

 

Establishment & Development

University of ElImam Elmahdi is committed to play a leading role in building national capacity on improving health status of communities with special focus on endemic diseases control & treatment through its Centre of Epedimic Diseases Researches and Studies.

The centre is located in White Nile State (Kosti city)  which is known to be one of the boundaries states with Southern Sudan country , a geographical  location that reflect the importance of special attention to made for  the abroad spread of epidemic diseases, in addition there were many agricultural and developmental schemes that  be assessed in terms of their environmental and health impacts .

The university  have qualified research staff members in many disciplines related to endemic diseases control & treatment namely public health, epidemiology, parasitology , environmental health, radiology, pathology,pharmacology, food hygiene, bacteriology and health education  . these staff members will help identify, assess and evaluate threats to human health as team work.

On the other hand there were many active  national and international organizations worked in fields of public health , water and sanitation and health promotion activities in  white Nile State , these organization will collaborate  in achieving the goal of the centre.
