Gender Organization Participates in the16-Day Campaign

The gender organization at University of El Imam El Mahdi participated in the 16-day Campaign against Violence towards Women which was organized by the Unit of Combating Violence against Women in cooperation with ministries, United Nations agencies, global and national organizations, associations and federations. The campaign represents the slogan (Together for Sustainable Protection for Women and Children).  It took place with the presence of the State Minister of Health and Social Development, Representative of the State Judiciary, Yusuf Hamad Al-Nil and police services officers and partners. Director of the Unit of Combating Violence against Women, Dr. Susan Abdulrazeq explained that the 16-day campaign is a universal occasion that coincides with the celebration of the International Day against Violence towards women and children. She added that the 16-day celebration program includes a number of awareness-raising talks and policy enforcement programs that keeps women's and children's rights. Apart of this, the organizations representative, Dr. Mosab Yousef Maken recommended all members to make great efforts to achieve the campaign message in providing sustainable protection for women and children against all forms of violence. He then expressed his appreciation for the community role in advocating women's issues.

At the end of the ceremony, Minister of Health and Social Development, Dr. Zainab Yousef Al-Numuri, she appreciated the audience and advocates of women's issues as the foundation of society. She added that the campaign aimed to raise community awareness and activate partnerships and laws that protect and serve women's and children issues and rights.
