The Rural Camp Week for Nursing sciences students had its closing day on Thursday, 13/12/2018 which included clinics, laboratory, pregnant women healthcare and distribution of assistive. Dean of the Faculty of Nursing Sciences, Dr. Jamalat Jibril Dawood clarified that the rural camp comes within the practical application of the Health Services Course. She added that the students were divided into several groups in order to make field surveys, determine the nature of diseases afflicting the region, health, awareness, education and environmental sanitation challenges. The students prepared surveys and questionnaires in the village, through which they reached out to many problems that face the inhabitants of the region. Dr. Jamalat mentioned that one of the most important problems in the region is the shortage of drinking water which leads to dissemination of thyroid disease and other environmental health problems. Through the closing day activities, more than 100 patients were served with free medication. The head of the Village People's Committee said that the convoy represented a significant addition to the village community through the offered health services, social and awareness activities. He confirmed that the camp had contributed to the financial burden and distances elimination for patients. The students showed an interaction with the rural peoples confirming the benefits and joy they had during the activities they carried out, extending their appreciation to the village peoples for their hospitality and welcoming.
